Buckskin Charlie: Buckskin Charley (1840-1936) Southern Colorado, Utah, Ute Chief. Succeeding Chief Ouray in 1880, he became first Ute leader during the Reservation period. Remembered for leading the rescue of the women and children abducted during the Meeker Massacre and also riding with Geronimo in Theodore Roosevelt's 1905 Inaugural parade. Also received Benjamin Harrison Peace Medal in 1890.
